Sam Raimi for The Hobbit?
The Chicago Tribune report that Spiderman director, Sam Raimi, “has been telling associates, as well as his corporate masters at Sony, that he is thinking of directing The Hobbit”

No! No Sam Raimi for The Hobbit! Peter Jackson for The Hobbit!
The director of Spiderman? No. Really. If it isn’t Peter Jackson it isn’t anyone.

Uh…. I don’t think Raimi is a bad director but I don’t think he’s the right director for this job. So, personally, I’m hoping Sony will hire someone else for the position.
I think that I’d have to agree with the comments so far…PJ ~ or the fans say “No Way!!” All or Bust!! I also think that NewLine should grow up and just abide by the contract signed and settle the case and then everyone can talk turkey…
I love the Spiderman movies… but, this guy isn’t for The Hobbit. If PJ doesn’t do The Hobbit, then I won’t see it… it’ll just feel wrong

No no no no no no absolutely not. I’m sorry, but I liked the plot of Spiderman, but not the directing. I don’t care if he’s thinking about directing the movie. *I’m* thinking about directing the movie. Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
Well, it can’t be too hopeless. I read somewhere that Raimi is actually a good friend of Jackson. Still, I’m not fond of the decision.
I really hope the rights fall back to Zaentz. Pete might have a chance then.

I’m jumping on the bandwagon – That’s a definite “NO” for me too. I like Spiderman, but if you take a look at the other movies he’s done, you can obviously see that he does not have the heart that PJ does concerning hobbits. (haha no pun intended!)

Any other director would do it for the money. Peter Jackson would do it out of his love for Tolkien’s world and is the only one capable of doing justice to The Hobbit. I wouldn’t consider going to see it unless he did it.

New line needs to stop being whiney babies (not to mention idiots) and let PJ do the film. It is sure to be a huge hit if Jackson does it and a sure embarresment if he doesn’t (no offense to Sam)
