"He had a blue coat and a long brown beard; his eyes were blue and bright, and his face was red as a ripe apple, but creased into a hundred wrinkles of laughter."
I dunno…I liked Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth, but I feel like del Toro’s vision is a little dark. And I always feel like I’m about two minutes behind everything when watching his movies…like I don’t quite “get it”. Not sure if he’s the best choice for this.

I’ve never seen any of his movies so i dont know whether to be happy or worried.

I very much agree with Rivka. I’ve seen both Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrnith they are dark and gloomy. That theme does not go well with The Hobbit, at least I don’t think but maybe Del Toro will find a way to make it right, I’m not sure but my instincts tell me that he might not be the right director.

I haven’t seen either Hellboy or Pan’s Labyrinth… but I will say, as I have said many times before, that PJ didn’t seem to be the best choice for LotR when that was first announced (he’d done splatter films and other such stuff, after all). So whoever this director is, and whatever his past work might have been, he deserves to have the opportunity to make this film without everybody already judging what the outcome will be, and hating/boycotting the film based on what they *think* the director will do (or simply because the director isn’t PJ). I, too, am yearning for a PJ remake, but if that’s not possible than we have to get over that.
I’m not saying Del Toro will be good, or any other director for that matter. I’m just saying that whoever it is deserves a chance.

According to Michael Regina at TORN and a clip on YouTube it is confirmed that he will be directing the Hobbit.
