Mortensen still waiting for call
Viggo Mortensen, who we all remember as Aragorn, the famous king of men, has always been up for the idea of coming back into Del Toro’s adaption of the Hobbit movies.
Mortensen says, “I haven’t heard anything. “I met [Guillermo] once years ago,” but haven’t talked to him since.” Will Aragorn reapear in the Hobbit movies? Del Toro and his team are still writing the screenplay, so no cast members have been called back or decided on yet. You can read more here.

Aww, I wanna see Viggo as Aragorn again!
wait…why would Aragorn be in the movies??? i mean, Viggo’s awesome, but…where could they possibly put Aragorn in a story that does not mention him, or Gondor, or Arwen, or the Dunedain, or anything? Aragorn has absolutely nothing to do with the story and i don’t understand what reason they have for shoving him in it. i mean, what purpose would he serve?
They could of course put him into the second movie where he would probably be old enough by then – other than that it could not be Viggo as he would be too old!
aint Aragorn, like, 12 in the hobbit? at any rate too young to be played by mortensen (sadly), but as much as i love Aragorn i dont think he should be in the hobbit
Aragorn was 25 when he met Gandalf. Between the years of 2957 and 2980 he undertook his great journeys and errantries. As Throngil, he served in disguise both Thengel of Rohan and Ecthelian II of Gondor (from Appendix B, Lord of the Rings). Considering all of this, it is conceivable that Aragorn could appear in a bridge movie covering the time between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring. It would be wonderful for Viggo to be Aragorn again because the character is such a part of him. I don’t think anyone else could give Aragorn the depth that Viggo could. Makeup does wonders and a makeup artist could make Viggo look young enough and still look natural. As it is, he looks younger than his 49 (almost 50) years.
