Ian McKellen to reprise role as Gandalf in The Hobbit.
Ian McKellen has confirmed on his official website that he will be playing Gandalf in The Hobbit movies. He wrote that his; “worry that I could not easily escape from Middle Earth was lifted” and that filming starts in New Zealand on 21st February.

YES! But, it was very silly of Sir Ian to say in his statement, “Could I let Gandalf go? Would anyone care if I did?” As if anyone else could play Gandalf.

He was so good in the Lord of the Rings. It wouldn’t be right if someone else played Gandalf.
