Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ Trilogy Becomes Closer to Reality With Talks Underway For Third Film
He already made a trilogy for The Lord of the Rings, but it’s becoming more apparent that filmmaker Peter Jackson — who just wrapped production on a two-part version of The Hobbit — may be returning to The Shire yet again. THR and LA Times both report that talks have begun with the cast the last few weeks, specifically Martin Freeman and Ian McKellen, about returning for a third movie.
Will we see a trilogy? See the latest here.

I am not sure I like the thought of a Hobbit trilogy. Even with the material in Unfinished Tales and LotR appendices, there just seems to be too little subject matter to make let’s say three 2-hour movies without extensive additions (and entire stretches of dialogues) from the scriptwriters. And it’s those that I’m worried about.
Peter should stay with just the 2 films. He has already created enough “new material to flesh out…” the 2 he has made.
I love Tolkien and Mr.Jackson’s directing but enough is enough. Keep the story as true as possible.
