Ancalimë was, first and foremost, the name of the daughter of Tar-Aldarion, the sixth ruler of Númenor. She became the first of the Ruling Queens of Númenor, then taking on the name Tar-Ancalimë.

But, Ancalimë, or Ancalimê, was also the elven tree given to the man who would become Tar-Aldarion by the Eldar of Eressëa. He planted it at his house at Armenelos.

After Aldarion razed the house and all the others trees there, he named this tree after his daughter Ancalimë, saying, "May you and she stand so in long life, unbent by wind or will, and unclipped!"

The tree had snow-white bark, and it bore leaves in the summer and flowers in the winter.
