A hostile realm beyond the Ettenmoors on both sides of the Misty Mountains. It was founded c. TA 1300, when the Witch-king (later revealed as the Lord of the Nazgûl) ruled it until an army of Gondor destroyed it in TA 1975.

Angmar was the principal force behind the fall of Arnor and Arthedain.
