Archet was a village outside Bree. It was in Bree-land on the southwestern edge of the Chetwood, just inside the eaves of the woods.

When Strider led the Hobbits away from Bree, he made as if they were heading for Archet, but they bore right and passed it on the eastern side.

During the War of the Ring, robbers hid in the woods beyond Archet and preyed upon Bree-landers and travellers. The robbers were driven out when the King's messengers returned to the North.

Etymology:
Archet is an English place-name of Celtic origin. The word 'chet' meant 'wood', and the name seems intentionally related to Chetwood.
