A hobbit of the Shire b. SR 1167, and the first recorded member of the Baggins family.
Balbo married Berylla Boffin. Their children were:
Mungo Baggins, Pansy Baggins, Ponto Baggins, Largo Baggins and Lily Baggins.
The family tree in Appendix C of Lord of the Rings records that through Mungo, Balbo was great-grandfather of Bilbo Baggins and through Largo, he was great-great-grandfather of Frodo.
Through his son Ponto, Balbo was also a common ancestor of both Peregrin Took and Meriadoc Brandybuck.
