Cirith Ungol was a pass across the Mountains of Shadow in Mordor from Minas Morgul to Gorgoroth. It actually consisted of two passes - a main route in the Morgul Pass and a more secret route climbing up to a cleft between two peaks of the Ephel Dúath. It was there that Shelob had her lair.
