Ioreth served in the Houses of Healing in Minas Tirith in Gondor, where Merry, Faramir and Eowyn were taken after the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. She was the eldest of the serving women and grew up in Lossarnach.

As she looked at Faramir, who was burning with fever, Ioreth said:

“Alas! if he should die, Would that there were kings in Gondor, as there were once upon a time, they say! For it is said in old lore: For the hands of the king are the hands of a healer. And so the rightful king could ever be known”.

Overhearing, Gandalf told her that maybe a King had indeed returned to Gondor.

When Aragorn came to the Houses of Healing, he sent Ioreth to find athelas.
