The crown forged by Morgoth in the beginning of the First Age. It held the three Silmarils of Fëanor, and was a dreadful weariness to him, but he never took it off.

In 466 of the First Age, Beren and Lúthien came into Angband, and Beren cut a Silmaril from the crown.

After his defeat at the end of the First Age, the Valar beat the crown into a collar to hang around his neck.
