King of Doriath
The title of two Sindarin Elf-lords, who rulled over the kingdom of Doriath for many centuries.
Thingol was the first King of Doriath and together with his wife Melian, they ruled the lands from some time before the beginning of the First Age until FA 502, when he was slain by the sons of Fëanor.
Dior Eluchíl was the heir of Thingol, as his name suggests, and he ruled Doriath after the slaying of his grandfather. But, because he was in possession of a Silmaril, the remaining sons of Fëanor assailed his fortress, and Dior was killed. The kingdom of Doriath ceased to be in FA 505.
