Also referred to as the Snowmen of Forochel, the Lossoth are a nomadic people living in the cold north around the Ice Bay of Forochel.

In 1974 of the Third Age they gave food and built shelters of snow for King Arvedui when he was fleeing the forces of the Witch-King.

Cirdan sent a ship up to the Ice Bay to rescue Arvedui and the Lossoth, thought to be capable of smelling approaching bad weather, warned him not to board the ship. Arvedui took to the ship despite the warning and the ship and all aboard, including two of the Palantiri, were lost and destroyed in a severe winter storm.
