Menelmacar was a grouping of stars, created by Varda. It would today be the equivalent of our constellation Orion, for it meant 'Heavenly-swordsman' or 'Swordsman of the Sky'.

Telumehtar was the name used before 'Menelmacar', both then becoming interchangeable. The Sindarin form was Menelvagor.
