The true Westron name of Peregrin Took.

Razanur was the name of a legendary wanderer and probably contained the Westron words Raza = 'stranger' or Razan = 'foreign'. Pippin was the anglicized form of Razar, short for Razanur (Razar meant 'a kind of small red apple').

Among the Tooks the tradition said that Tûca was an old word meaning 'daring', but since this etymology was not certain, Tolkien simply anglicized the spelling to Took.
