The Ruin of Doriath was the final destruction of the land of Doriath, that was long before founded by Thingol and Melian.

The sons of Fëanor learned that the Silmaril which Beren and Lúthien had recovered was being kept in Menegroth, so they assailed the lands in the middle of the winter.

During the ruin, King Dior Eluchíl and his wife Nimloth were slain along with three of the sons of Fëanor: Celegorm, Curufin, and Caranthir. Dior's sons Eluréd and Elurín were lost.

Thankfully Elwing, Dior's daughter, escaped and with her went the Silmaril to the mouths of the River Sirion by the sea.

The exact dates of the Ruin of Doriath are not known.
