Saeros was an elf of the Nandor, and a counsellor to Thingol in Doriath. He had long begrudged Túrin for the favor laid upon him by the King of Doriath and insulted Túrin when he returned from war, saying that he was unkempt, and that his clothes were too shabby. Túrin was angered and threw a drinking-vessel at Saeros, injuring him.

The next day, seeking revenge, Saeros tried to waylay Túrin as he left Menegroth to return to the marches. Túrin overcame him and forced Saeros to run naked through the woods. Saeros was afraid and in his fear he fell into a chasm and died.
