'Secret Fire' was apparently a name for the fire set to burn at the very heart of the world. It would seem to either be another name for, or just be associated with, the Flame Imperishable.

Gandalf calls himself a "...servant of the Secret Fire..." in The Fellowship of the Ring, when he is confronting Durin's Bane, a Balrog of Morgoth.
