TheHobbit name for the Men of Harad, the Haradrim, who rode to war on Oliphaunts.
To the Hobbits of the Shire, these Men were folk of legends, dark-skinned people of the far south of Gondor.
During the War of the Ring though, it was discovered by Samwise, Frodo, Merry, and Pippin that those Men actually existed outside of Hobbit legend as they saw them with their own eyes, both in Ithilien and at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
