Súrion was the son and third child of Tar-Anárion. As his two elder sisters refused to take the sceptre, he became the the ninth of the Kings of Númenor as Tar-Súrion.

Tar-Súrion ruled for 162 years and was succeeded by his daughter Tar-Telperien in 1556 SA. He also had another child named Isilmo.
