Tar-Telemnar was the name which was written in the Scroll of Kings for the twenty-third of the Kings of Númenor who was better known as Ar-Gimilzôr. He was the son of Tar-Falassion (Ar-Sakalthôr).

Tar-Telemnar took to wife a woman who was secretly a follower of the Faithful. Her name was Inzilbêth and she was a descendant of Tar-Calmacil. The mother of Inzilbêth was named Lindôrië and she was of the house of the Lords of Andúnië.

Inzilbêth bore to Telemnar two sons. The elder, Tar-Palantir, was very much like to his mother and loved the Faithful, while the younger, Gimilkhâd, was much like to his father and went against the Eldar and the Valar. There was little love between the two sons and if it had been allowed, Telemnar would have given the sceptre to his younger son.

Tar-Telemnar reigned for 75 years and was succeeded by his son Tar-Palantir (Ar-Inziladûn) in SA 3177.
