Thráin I was the King of Durin’s Folk from TA 1981 – 2190. He led the Dwarves’ Exodus from Moria after the death of his father, Náin I, by the Balrog. He founded the Kingdom under the Mountain, Erebor, in TA 1999, and discovered the Arkenstone in the mountain’s rich gem deposits.
