Alright. This is just the prolouge πŸ˜€ But I took the time to write it and it may or may not sound good. Never know till you read it…

“Tinde? What do you think your doing?” I froze, knowing that voice immediately. Sucking in my breath, I awaited another blow from the shrill voice behind me. “You’re going to get your dress dirty. How many times have I told you? What will your mother say when she sees you?” I felt the small hand clamp around my arm, above my elbow, and pull me up.
Just before, I was kneeling down on my knees, hiding behind a bush and watching. Watching what my life could possibly hold if I could just easily slip away. Even as I watched the other family, I knew that I would never be near them. Something inside me was holding me back. Fear? No, not possible. My grandfather had told me that I was braver then them all. Being a girl and acting exactly the opposite. Playing in the dirt, trying to avoid the annoying tutor who wanted me to be normal, staring in disgust at the dresses laid out every morning.
“… In my life have I ever seen a girl act as you.”
“What, I’m sorry?”
“You weren’t listening, were you?”
“No, ma’am. I wasn’t.”
“Well at least some of your teachings have been seeking in.”
I looked away, hoping to rid of the glare that was threatening to rear its ugly head. I sighed silently to myself as she dragged me along. I looked back at the hiding spot I had thought was safe. Thought that it protected me from the evil wench pulling me back home to the small cottage on the other side of the hill. My mother said she was exactly like I was. What happened to her? Had marriage hit her hard in the head? Did having a child tie her back from adventures?
As we entered my small cottage, I smelt the strong smell of freshly cooked bread. I pulled myself from the thoughts that floated constantly in my mind, to stare lovingly down at the table. Four plates were now set around the table. A wide smile broke across my face as I wrenched my arm from the tutors’ hands. I moved my gray eyes up to her face. Seeing her look of unfinished duty made me try my hardest to hold back a laugh of mockery.
As the tutor nodded and left, I closed the door behind her and ran to my mothers’ room. “Naneth!” I cried out, now feeling like I was floating. Finally, tutoring was over for the weekend. “Naneth…” I knocked three times, lightly, on the door. There was no answer. I placed my hand upon the doorknob. Hesitating ever so slightly before opening it. And then-
“There you are, little one!”
I found my mother there, staring at something in an oak chest. I removed my eyes from the small chest and hugged my mother tightly. “Why didn’t you answer my calls?” I asked, sitting down upon her bed and picking up a small rose that lay there, twirling it between my fingers. “And you didn’t come to the door when I knocked, either.” I glanced up at my mother once more. Her face was lit up. She seemed perky happy, but I couldn’t quite place my finger on it. I decided to let the questions bubble up, but not overflow.
“I must not of heard you.”
“Oh please, Naneth. Your hearing is like an Elven-maid, surely you did not miss my calls.”
“Well then, I guess I was trying to shy away from you?”
“You would do no such thing.”
“You’re starting to sound like your tutor.”
“The old bat? Surely not!” I looked at my mother horrified. Why would she say such a thing? I placed the rose down and stood up. “I’m going for a walk. Do call me when supper is done.” Hugging her once more, I set off down the dirt road. Things just didn’t seem the same anymore. Father had become a drunk, and was constantly trying to hurt us. The tutor seemed to be seeping into our lives, without us even knowing it. She had even begun telling mother what to do.
A sharp jab in the side knocked me from my thoughts again. I cursed under my breath and began brushing off the dirt from my sleeves. I took the hand that had offered me help and stood up. “Sorry about that, milady.” A deep voice said. Suddenly filled with shock, I looked up to find Eomer staring back at me. Concern etched across his face. “Are you alright?” I blinked and looked away.
“Yes. Yes I’m fine.”
“Eomer. Son of Eomund.”
“Tinde. Daughter of Hasind.”
“Very nice to meet you, milady.”
I simply nodded, a small dork of a smile upon my face. I looked up and saw him smiling back at me. And at that moment, I knew we would be a little more than acquaintances.
