The Blood Sea – chapter 1

…his eyes revealed fear but with awe as his intense shingle grey eyes gazed wonderously at the vast deep mysterious ocean, which spanned miles infront of him like a wide blue field, watching nature’s glistening ballerinas dancing gracefully on the shimmering surface.

The Great River Anduin as far as his elvish eyes could see, flows steadily down from the majestic snowy mountains of the Caradhras.
He closed his eyes and felt the warmth of the afternoon sun on his back, washing away all the weariness and sadness. He took a deep breath of the fresh salty sea air with his senses exploding to life taking it everything that’s around him, like an infant on their first walk forever learning new.

Legolas sighed as he looked longingly at the sea, wishing that he could stay longer to learn more. Suddenly a high – pitched shrill cry awoke his senses, the intense blue eyes pierced the colbat sky and caught a lone white gull soaring above him. Instantly Lady Galadriel words rang in his ears like a clear bell :
“Legolas Greenleaf long under tree
In joy thou hast lived. Beware of the sea !
If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the shore,
Thy heart shall then rest
in the forest no more.”

At once he felt an icy hand gripped his heart.
” Legolas!” he snapped out of trance, quick as a cat he spinned around, his pale fair hair whipped across his face. In the midst of the gale, the human ear would be straining to hear, but to delicate elven ears it was as clear as if the voice was close beside him.
” Come! We’re moving the troop back south towards the forest for the night!” Aragorn shouted above the fierce wind that had been building up with the intention of turning into a tempest. Legolas gave a nod to show that he caught the unrecognisable slurs of tone, as he watched Aragorn son of Arathorn strode proudly back to his men.

Lost in his on thoughts he leaped down from his rocky perch and walked with the natural elvish arrogance, towards his waiting companions. Always on alert, observing the natural environment around him.
