“Are you sure?” Arwen questioned, involuntarily rubbing her hands against her stomach.

“Yes, ma’am. I wouldn’t be wrong about such things,” the midwife replied. “You are definitely going to have a child.”

“When do you think I should tell Aragorn?”

“I would wait for a special occasion, something he would remember forever,” the midwife replied knowledgeably.

“That’s a good idea! Thanks, Hannah!” Arwen exclaimed, standing up to leave.

“And one more thing, milady.”

“Yes?”

“Take it easy. You wouldn’t want to lose the child.” Arwen grinned in response at her concern.

“Okay,” she replied, casually strolling out of the room. As soon as she was out of sight she started skipping. She was going to have a baby! She was due in only seven months, during July when the forest would be the prettiest! Suddenly she bumped into someone. She almost fell down when they grabbed her hand.

“What are you so happy about? You seem like you are on cloud nine!” Aragorn questioned, grinning at her.

“Oh, nothing honey!” Arwen responded. “I’m just happy that it’s almost Christmas soon.”

“So am I! It only comes in a week!” Aragorn replied excitedly, beaming. “I got you a really nice gift!”

“Really? What did you get me?”

“If I told you that would ruin the surprise!” Aragorn responded.

“I hate surprises,” Arwen grumbled. However, she was laughing internally. He would never suspect that she was going to have a baby!

“Aw, you only have to wait a week, at least!” Aragorn replied, optimistically. “We should start getting ready for the party.”

For the next week they worked hard, transforming their humble home into a winter fairytale. Finally the day for the party arrived.

“You can finally open your gift!’ Aragorn said eagerly, thrusting the rather large square package into her hands. Arwen happily opened it, revealing a beautifully carved jewelry box.

“Aw, thank you honey!” Arwen said embracing him and kissing him on the cheek. She pulled out a slim package out of her pocket. “Here’s your gift.”

Aragorn slowly opened his own package. Lying in it was a gold knife and a new leather belt. “It’s wonderful, love. Thank you.”

“I have something else to tell you.”

“Really? What, love?” Aragorn questioned as he fastened the new belt on his waist.

“You’re a father,” Arwen said, finally releasing the secret.

“I’m a what?” Aragorn exclaimed. Suddenly his face cracked into a grin. “You are a sly one! I’m going to have a child!”

“I’m going to be a mommy!”

“Yay!” they said in unison, jumping up and down in a circle.

“Ow!” Arwen said clutching her belly.

“What?” Aragorn said startled looking at her, suddenly appearing serious.

“I’m fine. The baby just kicked me, that’s all,” Arwen responded. Aragorn peered at her belly, rubbing at the slight bulge. He suddenly felt a little kick on his own hand.

“He kicked me!” Aragorn exclaimed, pulling away slightly.

“Since when is it a he?” Arwen teased. “What are we going to name her?”

“What about Michael?” Aragorn asked, smirking.

“I like Michel,” Arwen replied grinning. “Okay, let’s make a bet. If the child is a boy you can name him Michael. But I get to name her Michel if it’s a girl.”

“Fine. But it’s going to be a boy.”

“Nope!” Arwen replied. They continued the foolish argument for seven entire months. Finally the baby was born on the date of June 14.

“Honey, you can come in. Close your eyes!” Arwen called. Aragorn attentively walked in the room with his hand over his eyes. “Sit down.”

“Okay,” Aragorn replied, plopping down on the bed. He outstretched his arms. He felt Arwen place a rather large bundle in his arms. “Huh?”

He glanced down. In his arms were not one, but two babies. “Which one is mine?” he questioned, completely and utterly confused.

“Both,” Arwen said laughing although she looked (and felt) exhausted.

“Twins?!” Aragorn exclaimed. “Are they boys or girls?”

“Both.”

“I won the bet! One is a boy! His name is Michael.”

“So did I! One is a girl! Her name is Michel! Their names match! That’s adorable!”

“I’m just glad the babies and you are okay,” Aragorn mumbled. He turned his head to the sky, thanking the heavens for their good health.
