This poem is loosely based on Ithilinde’s fic “Of sunrise and sunset”. But really, it is a tribute to a good friend of mine who was very happily married when her husband died. She really loved him, and they had a son, but when Andrew (her husband) died in a car crach three days before easter, My friend, Terresa kinda went into shock. She would just stare at the wall, and not speak to anyone. A week after he died, she killed herself. So, it may not be good, but is my own kind of tribute to Terresa, with Haldir taking Andrew’s place to validate it for this site. Please, enjoy.

The gentle whisper of the wind
Is much like that of a kind lover.
So real is the happiness you feel
So bitter is the pain.

When your thoughts consumed
You come to realize
He is a part of you, and you of him.

Unbearable be the nights not lying in his arms
And empty be the soul.
Coldly your heart beats
With shallow, unfeeling breaths do you continue to live
And only live, for you are without him.

When back in his arms, the hearts sings, and happiness bursts forth like the untamable waves in the sea.
Golden hair, wild in the wind, like the feelings inside.
When the world seems so standable and you are strong
You are back in his arms, once more.

But when his smiling eyes are closed, and his laughing heart silenced by the cold blanket of death
You feel no more and know you have died with him.
Rain and winds with biting chill, like your own breaths as you stare soullessly at the wall.
Forever changed by your love for him, and the loss your heart will never recover from.

In the deepest recesses of your mind, you wish your body to be as lifeless as your ice cold heart.
When nothing makes you smile and your thoughts now rest on his cold hands,
You follow him to the land into which he has past.
You are with him again, as your own body becomes still.

Your love undying, as you lay dying.
You follow your beloved……
