Who are some good writers you like? I need some new reading material.

I like TheCheeseTurkey, Cassia, Dreamsrifter, Mirrordance, and for some humor Voldie on Varsity Track.

If you go to www.fanfiction.net, they have some really amazing authors

Legolass Q, Deana, Ironich Echo, Nili, Indigo Bunting, and, me, DarkStarofMirkWood

Just go to search and type in the name. You don't need to be registered to read! :disco:

I find Stories of Arda a good archive as well. Many of the authors post in more than one archive.

Legolas fans read daw the minstrel's stories

Twins fans read Jay of Lasgalen's stories

Of course there are many other great authors, its just hard to sift through the stories.

I put a vote in for anything by Nili, her last one is my favourite. Eretor is also funny and there's another one that I can never remember her name, but she co-wrote one of Erestor's fics.
Personally I think the Mellon Chronociles are over rated. It's gone on for far too long.

Well, most of my favorites are one-shots, but once in a while I find a longer fic I like, and most people prefer those.

Altariel - The Fire Sermon - "Faramir and Éowyn in the Houses of Healing, Faramir's perspective." One of the first LotR stories I read, and I still think it's amazing and beautiful and a wonderful gapfiller.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/578654/1/

Bejai - Sapphire Aurae - "Duty before love, rings before relationships. And those who continue to love all the same. Elrond, Celebrian, Vilya. Galadriel, Celeborn, Nenya." Ten chapters. I don't usually think of of Elrond and Celebrian as particularly interesting characters, but I love this story to pieces.

Camilla Sandman - The Official Fanfiction University of Middle-earth - My favorite fanfiction parody ever. LONG.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/644826/1/

Camilla Sandman - Raven's Song - Slash. The story of Legolas and Gimli. Beautifully written and captivating. I was close to tears when I finished this. LONG.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/720489/1/

Dwimordene - Father and Sons - "Insight into LOTR's most famous dysfunctional family that covers a span of years, from Faramir's adolescence through Sam and Frodo's journey through Ithilien."
http://www.henneth-annun.net/stories/chapter.cfm?stid=6

Marnie - Seeds of Old Trees - "Suppose Celeborn eventually did go to Valinor - would he like it there? And would Galadriel really be meekly waiting for him at the dock?" Set after LotR, but inevitably with a lot of Silmarillion references.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1861312/1/

Most of my favorite stories are Silmarillion based, but not a lot of people read those. If anyone's looking for Silmarillion fiction, though, I know a lot of good ones. But if I made a list I'd like to think there would be someone to use it.

I like "Surrogate Jewels" by AfterEver on www.fanfiction.net
Can any of you find the sequel "Picking up the Pieces"? I just can't seem to find it anywhere. I know it's kind of a long shot because there is sooo... much fanfiction out there, but i was just wondering.

I read Surrogate Jewels, and I haven't been able to find the sequel either. I looked at henneth-annun.net where AfterEver has some stories, but it's not there either. It was probably planned but never written, or at least never finished, because it's been so long since "Surrogate Jewels."

I decided I might as well list a couple of my favorite Silmarillion stories. First of all, my favorite novel-length story (of the ones that have been finished).

Oak and Willow by Marnie - The story of Celeborn and Galadriel's courtship. I'm not a big fan of these characters, but this story is more than a romance - it's beautifully written and well characterized, one of those stories where every character is made memorable, and it really looks at the differences between the Sindar and Noldor. A delicious fic worth reading at least once. Find it at:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1285624/1/

or at
http://www.elfringham.dsl.pipex.com/lotrfic/OakandWillow.html

And here's my most recent favorite Silmarillion story. It was written back in June.

The House of Feanor - Deborah Judge

"In Valinor, Nerdanel sculpts, Anaire teaches lore, Finarfin regrets, Idril claims her birthright, and the world changes." One part only, but don't underestimate it because it's short! This is the story of the Noldor who stayed in Valinor. I am so very glad someone finally wrote this, and made it so beautiful and poignant. It can't be an easy thing to write, but Deborah has done it, and is awe-worthy. Find it at:

One of my favorite writers is someone who used to use this site named Baylor. She did some great Hobbit-fics!

My favourite crack fic (Silmarillion and LOTR) is called Game of the Gods by Limyaael. It's amazing and can be found here http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1518794/1/. It's a Mary Sue bashing fic and is awesome.
(Characters include: Melkor, Varda, Feanor )

I also second Mirrordance's fics (For Every Evil/FEE). Modern-day fellowship is amazing. Although I love the first one the best. The second didn't really do it and I just didn't like the third one much.
(Characters: Legolas, Elladan, Elrohir and Aragorn, and the rest of the Fellowship, and a delightful OC) Can be found at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1972204/1/For_Every_Evil

I'm on fanfiction too. My penname is Mrs. King Aragorn I would definitely recommend LuthienThranduillion as well as Silivren Tinu.

Ro
"A time may come soon, when none will return. Then there will be need of valour without renown, for none shall remember the deeds that are done in the last defence of your homes. Yet the deeds will not be less valiant because they are unpraised." --Aragorn, Return of the King, pg. 767
