Post Chapter Quote- III.23, Of Tuor and the Fall of Gondolin
on: February 28, 2010 02:16
This quote is a companion to one of the questions on this chapter.
But Morgoth thought that his triumph was fulfilled , reckoning little of the sons of Fëanor, and of their oaths, which had harmed him never and turned always to his mightiest aid; and in his black thought he laughed, regretting not the one Silmaril he had lost, for by it he deemed the last shred of the people of the Eldar should vanish from Middle-earth and trouble it no more.

-

- the oath of Fëanor was always an aid to Morgoth, even though it was sworn against him
______________________
-The Silmaril that had been taken from him actually did more for him than the one still in his possession
____________________________
- on another note- Would Morgoth really want all of the Eldar to be gone from Middle-Earth; what would he do then?
