Death of Me

Red

Chorus only:

You tear me down, and then you pick me up.
You take it all, and still it's not enough.
You try to tell me you can heal me,
but Im still bleeding,
and you'll be the death of me.
We were one in the same, running like moths to the flame. You'd hang on every word I'd say, but now they only ricochet.

Half a Heart
"Only half a blue sky
Kinda there but not quite
I'm walking around with just one shoe
I'm half a heart without you
I'm half a man at best,
With half an arrow in my chest
I miss everything we do,
I'm half a heart without you."
"A sprinter learning to wait."

Breath
By Breaking Benjamin

You take the breath right out of me,
you left a hole where my heart should be.
You have to fight just to make it through,
Cause I will be the death of you.

We were one in the same, running like moths to the flame. You'd hang on every word I'd say, but now they only ricochet.

^^ LOVE THAT SONG^^

"You used to be the girl that could light up a room
And with the flip of a switch I bet you still do
You will leave a trail of danger yeah wherever you go
And no matter where it lead me I would follow
Yeah
Mmm yeah
Take me back
To those barefoot summer nights
Take me back
Running down those highway lights
Remember when
We said don't let go to it
Darling take me back
To that fire in your eyes
'Cause I know it ain't gone too far
Take me back to you and to your wild heart."
"Wild Heart" -Daughtry

The Real World by Owl City

"From the green belt balcony, the wildfires look so pretty.
Ponderosa canopy, I’d never leave if it were up to me.
To the ruby redwood tree, and to the velvet climbing ivy:
painted all mahogany, I’d never leave if it were up to me.

Can you feel a silk embrace in the satin air?
If we dissolve without a trace, will the real world even care?
Downy feathers kiss your face and flutter everywhere.
Reality is a lovely place but I wouldn’t want to live there."

If anyone had happened to look out of a window on the east side of the palace, they might have noticed two figures in the darkness, dancing in a square bordered by living plants, out of time with the dancers inside but perfectly in time with each other.

*Dust* by Eli Young Band

She's fighting back tears, she's fighting back years
Of the only life she's ever known
There's a future that's bright in the dead of this night
And all she's gotta do is go

And turn the radio up
Roll the windows down
She's got an open road
Ain't no stopping her now

She's got the pedal to the floor in a hand-me-down Ford
Yeah, the only thing that's left to do
Is catch a couple green lights and those baby blue eyes
Are leaving nothing in that rearview
But dust, nothing but dust.

"Alibis" by Marianas Trench

From the scrapes and bruises
To the familiar abuses
I'll kick and scream but it never changes anything

I could spill my guts out
Wearing my best little girl pout
And I almost missed it
But nobody said that this was gonna be easy

This is not the man I hoped to be
And I'm just trying to stop the bleeding
I don't know how to word it
I just started to deserve it
And all my, all my faces are alibis
And me, I'm half the man I wanted to be

Most times it all comes out wrong
I don't know the words but I'll hum along
There's nothing famillar here anymore
To anyone or anything left to feel alive

And I still taste that sickness
And it makes me crazy without it at best
But I'm in the same place I used to be
But I'm trying harder not to be
"A sprinter learning to wait."

This is the first time I shared this song with anyone, and it's the first time I've acknowledged it in awhile. I used to listen to the song a lot, but then something happened and I haven't been able to listen to it since, but it did strongly impact me and thats what this thread is for.

"Things Left Unsaid"

It's just a matter of time a few days ago
I saw you, you were fine
Remembering what you said
About the book you read
The one I got you
The Beginning of the End
Oh how we'd talk
For hours upon end
What I would give
Just to do it again
But you're lying there
In this hospital bed
Won't you open you eyes
And let's talk once again

[CHORUS]
If you fly away tonight
I want to tell you that I love you
I hope that you can hear me
I hope that you can feel me
If you fly away tonight
I want to tell you that I'm sorry
That I never told you
When we were face to face

Well I've been here all night
And I'm watching you
Breathe in and breathe out
Is it really you
Or just a machine
That's giving you life
And it's making seem
That there could be hope
I could say to your face
If it weren't for you
That there would be no grace
That's covered my life
You took the time
To speak into my mind
And my heart
Words of life

[CHORUS]

So goodbye for now
And I'll see you again
Some way, somehow
When it's my turn
To go to the other side
I'll hold you again
And melt at your smile
Now all I have
Are the ones that I'm with
And you taught me not
To take for granted
The time that we have
To show that we care
Speak into their minds
And their hearts
While their here
And say I love you

We were one in the same, running like moths to the flame. You'd hang on every word I'd say, but now they only ricochet.

Of all the songs I know, this is the one I relate to best...it's a little hard to explain why. Sorry it's so long...I didn't like to cut much of it out.

For Good
by Idina Mendel and Kristen Chenoweth

ELPHABA:
I'm limited
Just look at me - I'm limited
And just look at you -
You can do all I couldn't do, Glinda
So now it's up to you
(spoken) For both of us
(sung) Now it's up to you:

GLINDA:
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you:

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA:
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend:

Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you:

GLINDA:
Because I knew you:

BOTH:
I have been changed for good.

ELPHABA:
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done you blame me for:

GLINDA:
But then, I guess we know
There's blame to share:

BOTH
And none of it seems to matter anymore:

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better?

GLINDA:
And because I knew you:

ELPHABA:
Because I knew you:

BOTH:
Because I knew you:
I have been changed for good.

These are some of the words from a song I have always liked. It is called *Drops of Jupiter* by Train. I met someone the other day and he happened to also like this song so he sings it to me.

Now that she's back in the atmosphere with drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain, reminds me there's a time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon,
She listens like Spring and she talks like June, hey, hey, hey

But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded?
And that heaven is overrated ?

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar?
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?

Did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day?
And head back to the Milky Way?

Did Venus blow your mind?
Was it everything you wanted to find?
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?
My destiny is riding again, rolling in the rain, unwinding in the wind. My destiny is fighting again, secretly unwinding..what it was I was supposed to say...to say to you today.

I don't really like this song, but the lyrics describe me at big gatherings, at least to some extent.

Wallflower by Priscilla Ahn

Do you see me standing there in the corner
I was alone, I always am at these big parties

Watching you, watching everybody
Wishing I was more outgoing
Wishing I was dressed up pretty

Wallflower, I'm not here, no one sees me
Wallflower, I'm by myself, please excuse me

But there you were
Standing in your own corner
Your eyes were wide
Tired, fading, just like mine
We could be the best of friends
I'm sure of it
But I'm too shy to
Cross this crowded room
Besides

Wallflower, I'm not here, no one sees me
Wallflower, I'm by myself, please excuse me

Help me leave this corner of the room
I'm reaching out to you
'Cause I've got things
I could talk to you about
And we could be
Wallflower friends 'til the end
Wallflower friends 'til the end
I'm sure of it

Wallflowers, we're not here, no one sees us
Wallflowers, we're together, please excuse us

So it doesn't totally describe me, but it does some...

Gem, I love the song 'For Good'! I've never seen Wicked preformed, and I've never read it...I'm not sure I want to, either. But I still like the song. One or other of my sisters sing Glinda's part, and I sing Elphaba's part.

Yeah, I guess this is kinda like me... I laugh all the time.

I Love To Laugh - Mary Poppins

Uncle Albert:
I love to laugh
Loud and long and clear
I love to laugh
It's getting worse ev'ry year

The more I laugh
The more I fill with glee
And the more the glee
The more I'm a merrier me
It's embarrassing!
The more I'm a merrier me!

Mary Poppins:
Some people laugh through their noses
Sounding something like this "Mmm..."
Some people laugh through their teeth goodness sake
Hissing and fizzing like snakes

Bert:
Some laugh too fast
Some only blast - ha!
Others, they twitter like birds
Then there's the kind
What can't make up their mind

Uncle Albert:
When things strike me as funny
I can't hide it inside
And squeak - as the squeakelers do
I've got to let go with a ho-ho-ho...
And a ha-ha-ha...too!

All:
We love to laugh
Loud and long and clear
We love to laugh
So ev'rybody can hear
The more you laugh
The more you fill with glee
And the more the glee
The more we're a merrier we!

@Lindarielwen, indeed. When Mareth saw what song I was posting, she got a grin on her face, and was like "Yep, that's you!".

"You convince me to put life aside and want you."

This described me on a few occasions back in the 70's...

"Life left you a broken boy, man
To fight the war an angry young man
Now it’s time to be a shaman
Take these wings and learn to fly man

I lost my grip and took a trip
On a magic mushroom rocket ship
Rode the waves and didn’t flip
The rainbow-flavoured astral trip"
