So...I find a word for "answer" in my dictionary, but not one for "question, ask, etc."

I want to say "Ask so-and-so..."

So far, my solution is to reword the sentence as "Speak to so-and-so..."

(Bonus question! In the above sentence, would it be better to use carfa- or ped- for "speak"?)

Any other suggestions? Have I failed in dictionary-using and there actually is the word I want? (I would be ever so happy...)

No, there's no verb for 'to ask', it's one of the gaps in Sindarin's vocabulary that has frustrated me the most over the years!

For 'speak', use ped-.

thank you! I do so love living on the other side of the world from you! It's fantastic to ask a question at night and know that it may be answered in the morning!
one more little question: what is the difference between ped - and carfa-? They both seem to mean speak, talk in the dictionary, & I can't catch the subtle difference. Is there one? Thanks!

Ped- is 'to say and to speak', Carfa- is just 'talk'.
