Parody of "Into the West" by Annie Lennox

Lay down
Your sweaty and weary head
Tassels are falling
You have come to detasseling’s end

Sweat now
And dream of the tassels before

They are falling in a distant field
Why do you weep?
What are these gloves upon your hands?
Soon you will see
All of your tassels will fall away

Safe in my arms
you’re only sweating

What can you see on the corn field?
Why do the grasshoppers jump?

Across the corn field
My employer rises
The buses have come to carry you home

And all will turn to greenish grass
A light on a tassel
All buckets pass

tassels fall
into the muddy ground
through other tassels falling
out of memory and time

Do say we have we have come to journeys end
yellow buses are calling
the tassels and I will meet again

And you’ll be here in my arms
Just sweating

What can you see on the corn field
Why do the grasshoppers jump

Across the corn field
My employer rises
The buses have come to carry you home

And all will turn to greenish grass
A light on a tassel
Yellow buses pass
onto the road ……………
