  • While it is never explained whether Gildor married or not, at some point he did have a child, and that was Nénsoron. He was with his father’s party when they first met Frodo and the Hobbits on September 24th, T.A. 3018. They were traveling eastwards towards Rivendell, where Nénsoron stayed after his father departed from there. Nénsoron was 147 at the time. While there he married Andúnriel and they had two children, Andunethôr and Taurëlindë. While traveling to Bree with his family because an old friend had summoned him, they were overcome by bandits and his wife was slain. Overcome with grief, Nénsoron took his children to Lóthlorien where his cousin cared for them and protected them. Nénsoron then traveled to Minas Tirith in search of information on where his father had been, since he had not seen him since meeting the Hobbits. Soon after he arrived there, Pippin and Gandalf arrived and the Battle of Pelennor Fields began. He defended the city fiercely, but after seeing so many of the soldiers falling, he became afraid and fled. Ashamed of his cowardice, he once again traveled to Trollshaws to find the bandit group that had killed his wife and kill them. Since then, he has traveled throughout the northern regions of Middle-Earth in search of the bandits, but has yet been unable to find them.
