Ingredients

1 lb. chickpeas
3 small potatoes, peeled
1 medium onion, peeled
2 cloves garlic or 2 tsp. minced garlic
1-2 tbsp. curry powder
1-2 tbsp. chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2-3 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. baking soda
Oil - pref. olive

Instructions

Soak chickpeas overnight in water - for 12-24 hours

Drain them and put them through a food processor with the onion, potato and garlic

Add the seasoning and flour

Mix thoroughly and let sit for about 2-3 hours

Add the baking soda and mix again

Heat about 2-3 inches of oil in a deep, heavy frying pan till just before it starts smoking

Form fistfuls of mixture into patties, flatten slightly, and place in the oil for about 2 minutes, turning a couple of times.

Remove, and let sit for 1-3 minutes on absorbent paper

Serve with warm lembas, or bread
