Scale doubles needed for The Hobbit
According to an article on the Wellington Dominion Post’s website, and as seen in an advertisement run in their newspaper, the search for scale doubles for “The Hobbit” has begun.
“The Hobbit casting department advertised in The Dominion Post yesterday for ‘short and tall’ people for a preliminary casting call to take place at the Te Whaea National Dance and Drama Centre in Newtown on Sunday.”

I wish I was either taller or shorter and lived in NZ… It’s encouraging to hear that they’re getting the cast set up.
That would be cool to be an extra in The Hobbit. Too bad it’s in NZ cause I would have probably gone to the auditions.
Too bad I’m 5’10” and can’t try out anyway 😛 That and the fact I don’t live in New Zealand. Here is where I feel like I need to be shorter… I would love being an extra in the films. It is very good news that they are looking though 🙂
They’re doing the casting for the parts! That’s so great!!
This is actually not for extras, as stated in the article, they’re looking for small people to play the scale doubles for the regular actors 🙂 Supposedly there will be an ad out soon when they’re ready for extras… might be a little while since they only need those when they really begin filming.
This is great news. Looks they’re finally starting…hopefully. 🙂
