48 FPS Hobbit Preview Shown to Theater Owners.

Hobbit Being Filmed at 48 FPS. Will we be able to watch it?

There are 70,000 digital screens worldwide, 40,000 of which are ready for 3D,. All show films at the current rate of 24 FPS but exactly zero are capable of showing High Frame Rate (HFR) movies. Two interesting articles explaining the problems in converting to HFR can be found here and here .

HarperCollins to publish numerous official ‘The Hobbit’ movie tie-ins

Harper Collins Publishers has acquired exclusive worldwide publishing rights from Warner Bros. for tie-in books to the two highly anticipated Peter Jackson films while Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has acquired the U.S. publishing rights from HarperCollins. Stephen Fry finishes his final scene on the Hobbit.

According to Stephen Fry’s tweets, he’s now finished filming his final scene and will soon be heading home after spending several months in New Zealand playing the Master of Laketown. Stephen Fry’s twitter account can be found here .

New J.R.R. Tolkien biography to be released as a comic book
