My apologies if this has been discussed already--I did search, but sometimes I fail at finding...
I want to say "how do you know Quenya?" I found a sentence in a phrase book that seems to suffice, but, language geek that I am, I want to modify it!
The sentence I found is "Manen istat Eldarin?"
What I want to know is, "Eldarin" means "elvish" right? Is there a word that means "Quenya" specifically (as opposed to Sindarin)? Or is "Quenya" the word? Can I say "Manen istat Quenya?"
Quenya is indeed the Quenya word for Quenya. Sindarin however is also a Quenya word (it is Edhellen in Sindarin).
Eldarin is a general word for all Elven languages.
In the course on this site we prefer -l as ending for "you". -t is the preferred ending for "they": Manen istal Quenya?
