Post Translating names from Decipher Lord of the Rings RPG
on: January 05, 2016 04:46
Hi all.

I've found the name Nimbathel as an Elven female name on the Decipher LotR RPG.

I'm trying to figure what should be the translation. So far, I understand that "nim" should be "white", but I'm unsure of how I should translate the rest.

Looking at the dictionaries, it seems to me that the second part should be "thel", which can be translated as "will", or "th^el" (sorry, no keyboard support here), which is "sister".

Can someone with more knowledge of me shed some light?

Thanks
Farlung

From a bit of Googling it appears it's meant to mean 'White star pathway' [nim = white, bâd = pathway, el = star. (Core Book, p. 63)]

Though it would actually be Nimp = White, pale.

Hi Galadivren.

Thanks for your answer. Are you saying that the translation was already in the Core Book? I've the italian version, and there could be some difference.

Thanks

Looks like it yes. I've never heard of the book before so I don't have a physical copy to compare against the PDF online.
