You can tell looking at these how much influence he got from Norse mythology.
that dragonish thing gave me nightmares. they should band this picture from the website.
I like his way of drawing.
very cool, I like it
Love his style – very fitting with the mythological stories etc. Scary dragon too… :S!
notice the way he wrote.. really nice
so this is the great worm
it looks so primitive yet so detailed. really great.
Dear God! It’s my English teacher!
i LOVE THE WAY HE WRITES ELVISH!!!
wow I love the type of drawing here
The pictures great, but I think Smaug looks kind of silly.
Oh, Glaurung. Oops. Sillier, then.
It’s very colorful and unreal looking. kind of like a dream someone would have. I love It!
forgive me laitaine hinnim, but there is only the smallest morsel of Norse mythology in the picture.
I love the way Tolkien picks the right colours. They mix so good and it’s beautiful and I love how he writes.
Ok, I love his literary work, I don’t like his illustration work very much (please don’t come after me)
great painting
I second that, seventh ringbearer. But he can draw better than I can! Don’t you think Glaurung is burning the
trees?
It’s true, you really have to appreciate his style to enjoy the at…I love it.
He can make scenery soooo interesting, AND beautiful, in original ways.
You must have the same English teacher as I!
i like his style too 🙂
Oh gosh…It looks like my horse when I’m late with her feed!.. No, really this pic is fabulous!
heh me likes the black mountain
Nice sceneray
Looks like something my Uncle has drawn very interesting style
That English teacher must drive my bus, because that bus driver can breath fire, too.
this looks ever so fake to me!
Hmm, Glaurung resembles *my* English teacher too… & your bus driver you say? Could this mean something?
And Luthien woodelf that wasn’t very polite. It looks “unreal”.
That’s the point.
This is a neat style of drawing. It’s different and I like it.
got this one on my old copy of the silmarillion, but it’s so small, that I always wonderd what it’s suposed to
be, now I know
O_O ummmm okaaay….. very…. interesting…. looks like it belongs on a tapestry from the 1500’s
Scary
Interesting. I like the neat lettering using almost-tengwar-like characters. Cool.
I prefer his pics of mirkwood aand beorns halls, Glaurung looks sort of half like a cartoon, and the way the
colors on the drawing are done it deosn’t look ‘real’ so much as almost a child’s drawing, albeit
very talented child (phew, long comment)
This is the cover of my copy of Unfinished Tales! It’s a really interesting picture I think, not very
realistic but certainly interesting. I like the big stripe of destruction leading down from… oh dear. What’s
the name of that place? Is it Menegroth?
