I think the paintings based on this picture are the best. Especially Nasmith’s.
it actually looks like the movie! in my opinion it does…lol
yeah it does.
it looks kind of small, but very …. nice..
will not break rule three… will not break rule three… when can I move in…
Hey this is used for a scene in the FotR!
Actually… I think it’s quite different from the movie. Beautiful, still… but different.
This is how I first imagined Rivendell
simply great
this is how i imagined it also
So much for the Hildebrandt’s gingerbread cottage…
hmm, looks like an old school house crossed with a curch, but in a good way
Oops, I meant church, not curch, lol.
wow!!
This was actually how i imagined it except i thought that the “school house/church” would look more like
would look more like it does in the movie. And thats why i Love PJ. 😉
wow, What Tolkien himself pictured Rivendell as. =0 cool!
I’d like my room to look like this… So pretty
Actually pretty close to how I pictured it before the movies. I imagined the buildings to be more compact.
thinking there should be more trees and nature to the left, and less white mts.
The colors are so beautiful!! I’m like sucked into it just by looking at it. ::Gawking:: I love the man!! lol
great pic. I wanna live there
umm this has nothign to do with this drawing but just saying that people
critize tolkiens drawings too much he invited a whole world hes not picasso also but he tries to explain his
vision on drawings and still they come out ok
They’ve obviously done some remodeling for the movie! 😀
I want to go to there! Wouldn’t Rivendell be an awesome bed and breakfast? 🙂
Ahh, there’s no place like home….. ^____^
I’m in love with that tree!
if you look for it, there’s a painting by Nasmith that is almost copied from this one… i think it’s really
Breaking news: The Elves were actually Chinese
:D:D:D:D
My favourite picture of Imladris with the pictures of the movies
*gasps* it is so gorgeousely detailed!
lol Dymond and yeah, it
(sorry) … is cool! the tree looks droopy though… kinda sad… 🙁
this is ooo awesome!!! I can see the simalarities to the movie!
To put it simply: one of tolkien’s best….period.
This is SO neat. Not only is it EXACTLY like I imagined it, but it is neat because it looks exactly like…
… the Lauterbrunnental in Switzerland, my favorite place on earth. I did some research and yes…
… Lauterbrunnen, where Tolkien hiked in 1911, was the inspiration for Rivendell. “Lauterbrunnen” means…
guess what… Loudwater! Can you believe that? In Switzerland this would be looking up the valley from…
… the more open northern end, and you can see up to the mountains at the southern end. In Switzerland you..
… can see the Jungfrau (and the Eiger and Mönch on clear days) just where that tall mountain in the back is.
Breaking rule 3 and 6, sorry. But I love this so much! And that little birch tree is so delicate and lovely
and… is “pure” the right word, I’m not sure. Rivendell itself is not too bad either. 😛
Ohh,I like it. =)
