July, 13, 2009: relocation

As Tripod will eventually be migrating to Webon, I will probably stop using this site as the launching point for my personal website. It just seems to be more practical.

August 06, 2008: Minor refocus

There are going to be a few changes going on as I work on reigning in the focus on this site. It's gotten a little distracted in its purpose.

April 28, 2008: Warning: The Deer is Teal

My Pirates Who Don't Do Anything website is going to be down until the outcome of the Lexicon Lawsuit. Call me paranoid, but I have a feeling that if RDR wins because Jo Rowling "waived her copyright when she allowed the Lexicon to exist online" there's going to be a wave of copyright holders going through the web, locking down anything that is potentially threatening. All of the documents about the case can be found here on Justia.com. I'm crossing my fingers that this will be a win for Jo Rowling, as I believe it to be in online fandom's best interests. For a comprehensive (and somewhat biased) coverage of the lawsuit visit Fandom Wank's Wiki entry, which contains all the posts with updates on the Lawsuit. I have always tried throughout my web site, to give acknowledgment to material from respective copyright holders. I know many fans have never dreamed of doing such a thing behind a copyright holder's back. However, I fear that this lawsuit will have a negative effect and holders will prowl the internet to shut down anything that could potentially harm their copyrights after being on good terms with copyright holders. I hope this lawsuit can be resolved without a verdict as the Judge urged, but I'm beginning to doubt it at this point. Until then, I am working on posting writing exercises, blogs, and other stories that I've written. I'm also including the stuff that I'm now embarrassed to look back on, because it's all a part of my writing portfolio and I want to share my growth as a writer with you.
