Description: The original recipe required a fair amount of Mt. Caradhras snow; this variant adapted to modern technology uses a freezer instead. Gandalf would approve.

Ingredients

3 eggs
1 and 1/4 cups whipping cream
3/4 cups powder (icing) sugar
1/2 cups chocolate and/or liquor sweets,
nuts, or any favourite sweets

Instructions

Carefully separate egg yolks from whites, making sure not to get any trace of yolk into the white.

Whip yolks with sugar to a light fluff (5 minutes with an electric mixer).

Whip cream separately. (Important - never let whipping cream sit at room temperature, or it won't whip properly.)

Use separate bowl for whipping egg whites. You should be able to turn the bowl upside down without spilling the contents.

Add cream to yolks, mix well and add whipped whites.

Add coarsely-chopped sweets and mix well. Put the now-ready ice-cream into a suitable container. Put in freezer and stir two or three times during the freezing process, about 6 hours.

Frosted ice-cream glasses are superb for serving this.

The flavour can easily be varied indefinitely by adding pieces of your favourite sweets. Coarsely chopped, roasted hazelnuts are a known favourite among Wood-Elves. (You don't want to know what the Uruk-hai use.)
