History:

Aithne was born and lived all her life in Esgaroth. She was not really curious of the life outside of the town, glad to have her safe environment instead of the dangers of the outside world. She had been dreaming of having a huge family and a loving husband. Her dream came true when she met Amman, the future Mayor of Esgaroth, and with her father’s blessing she married him at the age of sixteen.

Aithne really loved her husband, and the first year of their marriage was the happiest one in her life. She and Amman seemed to have been made for one another, and they were a loving couple. A few months after their wedding Aithne got pregnant, and both she and her husband were excited about having their own child. The period of her pregnancy was a happy one, filled with dreams of their future child, and hopes that it would be a boy, since they wanted a boy to be their first child.

At the age of seventeen Aithne gave birth to her first child, a healthy boy who was named Thearl. Her joy was great, and she spent all her time taking care of the infant, and pouring all the love she had into the child. She called Thearl her little miracle. But it was then when her marriage began to fall into ruin. Her husband began to drink, and was no longer a loving husband or father. He hated the little boy and was abusing him badly, taking all his anger out on the innocent child and beating him up badly. Aithne was trying to protect her son, but in his drunken state Amman would no longer listen to her, nor hesitate to beat her up too. It lasted for about seven years, and these years were the period of tears, fear and terror for both Aithne and her son Thearl.

When Aithne thought that nothing could change the tragic situation, a miracle had seemingly happened. She was pregnant once again, and she had given birth to her second child, Rethe, at the age of twenty- four. Soon after, Amman had begun to change slightly, loving his new baby daughter very much, and Aithne began to believe, that maybe he would understand his wrong doings and in time, and with her help, she could help Thearl and Amman to repair their relationship. To help Amman to love his son. But unfortunately she was not given a chance to enjoy the peace that seemed to have come back to her house, or to help her son and husband.

Just a few months after Rethe’s birth, Aithne was tragically killed in a terrible accident. She was walking back home, hurrying since she had left her baby daughter Rethe with Thearl, whom she had asked to watch over his sister. Suddenly, a carriage that was passing her by came loose after the horse got scared of something, and it squashed Aithne against the wall of a house. The accident gave her fatal injuries, and she lived for only a few hours afterwards. She was unconscious for those few hours, awaking just a few minutes before her death, only to say goodbye to her son and husband.

Her death was a terrible tragedy for the family, since it was never the same after that. Aithne’s death left both the Mayor and Thearl devastated, and probably neither of them managed to come to terms with her death, even after all those years that had passed since then. The relationship between the father and son has not been restored so far, since ever since his mother’s death Thearl believed that he had no parents left. And so, thinking of what his mother had said to him, he instinctively clung to his little sister, feeling that she was the only family he had left. Aithne’s death also meant that Rethe, who was almost six months old at that time, never had a chance to get to know her mother, and knew her only from the stories Thearl and her father told her.
