Béomund grew up in the city of Edoras. His family was not a noble one, but it was a proud one. Béomund’s father, Beorn, served faithfully as a Rider of Rohan for many years. Though he had no nobility, the Marshals recognized his superb service and respected him for it. He retired in 2756 with high honors.

Béomund loved his younger sister, Hawyn, very much. They spent a great deal of time together and he would often have to protect her as she would often get herself into a great deal of trouble. He never seemed bothered or burdened by doing this either because he protected her out of love, not responsibility. His childhood was therefore never dull, but it was also rather uneventful.

Béomund joined the Riders like his father when he was 22, just before his father retired. During this time, King Helm was looking for warriors to fight if the need should arise. King Helm had just declared Fréca’s loyalists enemies of Rohan and he didn’t doubt that they would retaliate for Fréca’s death. Béomund therefore joined earlier than he might have if the circumstances were different.
