Alan Lee, illustrator of The Children of Húrin, will be signing copies of the book on Thursday 19th April at Forbidden Planet, London, UK.

Cross Realm poetry contest no. 4

The fourth Cross Realm poetry contest has just been opened. This time the participants will try and write poems in limerick style, but the theme is free. If you want to enter a poem, go here for further information.

New Theme Released

CoE is pleased to announce the release of a new theme: GreyHavens. This was the theme created by Nenyia, the winner of the theme contest held last year. You can change your theme by going to My Account, and then Select Theme.

Treebeard in Birmingham

icBirmingham report that plans for a 20ft statue of Treebeard at Moseley village green are set to get the go ahead. Tim Tolkien, great-nephew of JRR Tolkien, has designed the stainless steel statue.

Just can’t live without LotR

‘The Lord of the Rings’ has been voted second in a list of the top ten books that readers cannot live without, in a poll organized by World Book Day UK, receiving 17% of the overall vote. Top of the list is Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’.

‘The Hobbit’ also appears at 16th place in the Top 100, which can be viewed here (in PDF format).
