This may not indicate any changes. He may have simply been referring to Sauron abandoning Dol Guldur under threat from the White Council, shortly before the Battle of Five Armies.

IF this does indicate a change involving the Necromancer’s participation in later actions, I’m not sure whether to be alarmed or pleased. I could see that being either beneficial to characterization and overarching plot, or disastrous if done wrong.

I dearly hope that this does not mean Sauron will show up at the Battle of Five Armies. I would really not know what to make of that.

I’m thinking one of two things, either Cumberbatch is getting the Battle of Five Armies confused with the White Council driving Sauron out of Dol Guldur or PJ and co have completly thrown the book out the window and will have Sauron leading the battle of five armies. In which case nothing would make sense as Sauron needs the One Ring to regain his physical form. I don’t even like the idea of the goblins being influenced by Sauron to attack.
I’m not that happy about this ‘spoiler’ being published because it completly confuses people who aren’t really familiar with the books.
