A toast to The Professor
Today, 3rd January, is the birthday of J.R.R. Tolkien. He was born 118 years ago on 3rd January 1892 in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The Tolkien Society suggest that at 9pm in your local time you raise a glass and celebrate his life and work with a toast to “The Professor”.

Hail the Professor! I cannot express with words the feeling of gratitude I have for the man that brought us The Lord of the Rings and who opened the world of Middle-earth. Thank you, may you rest in peace.
Happy birthday, Professor!!!!
As ShadowMaiden said: We all can not express how thankful we are for middle earth and all it’s characters. You might have thought when you first made it that your story would be no good, but little did you know that even today people would still be praising your stories; LotR, The Hobbit, both such wonderful masterpieces. Have a wonderful time in heaven, dear Tolkien, I look forward to meeting you up there. 🙂
