Who wants to Live Forever

*** This is a songfic and I’ve never done one before so tell me what y’all think. The song is from Queen and the Lyrics are by Brian May. The characters, obviously, are Tolkiens and, well, you know the drill. It’s based on the movie not the books so Arwen has already given up her immortality. Enjoy ***

Arwen blinked back tears as she watched Aragorn pass through the gates to Rivendell with the rest of the fellowship. Aragorn hesitated just outside the gates and turned to look at Arwen one last time before he left Rivendell for good.
She watched until they were completely out of sight and the gates were shut. A single tear slid down her cheek. She felt a hand on her shoulder and knew it was her father trying to comfort her. Before he could say anything she pulled from his touch and ran to the garden.

Arwen burst through a curtain of ivy and onto the bridge where she and Aragorn had spent their last evening together. She stood for a few moments breathing heavily, tears flowing down her cheeks, before she fell to her knees. She covered her face with her hands and sobbed silently into them as fears for her future swam through her mind. She began to doubt the choice she had made.

Arwen knew if she had not made the choice she would never be able to be with Aragorn and would have to leave Middle Earth forever. She wondered what her father saw of her future, if he knew of the sacrifice she had made.

As Arwen sat on the bridge she looked into the water at her reflection. She could see the sadness in her eyes that she felt in her heart and knew she had made the right choice.
Whether Aragorn died or not during the course of this ordeal he would die eventually as was the fate of all men. Arwen knew she would never be able to live without him. She would wait for him until the end of all things and would die with him. Aragorn was and always will be the only one she’d ever love.

Eventually the tears slowed and Arwen laid herself down on the bridge and slept. She dreamt Aragorn was there to comfort her and could feel his touch. As she slept the tears did not stop but there was a faint glimmer of a smile on her lips.
