A Distant Memory by luthienkenobi
Open road in sight,
A path so distant,
The sky seems endless.
Running afar,
Swift into the distance,
Hiding in shadows.
A trip,
A new walk of life,
Another chance.
Freedom again,
Walking through a forest,
Shade surrounds me.
Grass below my feet,
Soft and dewy,
A warm feeling.
Wind stirs the trees,
Blowing branches,
Shaking leaves.
Trees,
They speak to me,
sympathetically calling.
The rain falls softly,
As it drops among flowers,
Leaving mellow dew.
I dance among the leaves,
I move throughout the lights,
The spirit caresses me.
The sea calls to me,
With a sweet, longing voice;
Gulls cry above me.
The heavens are crying,
Gently and streaming,
Have you any idea why?
I will never feel the same,
The finches will never sing;
The stars are veiled.

I love the way you evoke emotion through your descriptions of scenery. Your images are like those in Haiku poetry – simple, yet meaningful. Great job, luthienkenobi!
