Rider of the Rohirrim who fought in the Second Battle of the Fords of Isen. The riders under the command of Erkenbrand incurred heavy losses in this battle, and Ceorl was sent south as a messenger to warn Éomer that he should turn back to Edoras.

He came upon a group of riders which at first he thought were led by Éomer. After relaying the news to the riders, he was overjoyed as King Théoden came forward and revealed himself, and he knelt before the king and offered his sword. Ceorl was given a fresh horse and rode with Théoden's company to Helms Deep.

His fate is unknown.
